Is Stock Expert AI free to use?

Yes. Every stock page is free to read without an account, and there is no subscription. A free account is needed for the tools that save or generate something for you — watchlists, the portfolio screenshot scanner, virtual trading and the Moon AI assistant — and those AI features carry a daily allowance. No credit card is ever required.

Who is Stock Expert AI for?

Stock Expert AI is built for self-directed investors who want to understand their portfolio and the stock market on their own terms, without Wall Street connections or expensive terminals. Whatever your experience level, every metric is explained in plain English, from data built on Financial Modeling Prep, Yahoo Finance and SEC EDGAR.

Which markets does Stock Expert AI support?

We cover 21,000+ U.S.-listed operating companies across all 11 sectors and 50+ industries — large-cap (S&P 500), mid-cap and small-cap equities on NYSE, NASDAQ and OTC. Delisted securities and mutual-fund share classes keep an archived profile without a current MoonshotScore. We also cover major indices and commodities.

How does the Portfolio Scanner work?

Upload a screenshot of your brokerage portfolio or enter positions by hand; OCR reads the holdings, then the scanner returns educational insights on diversification, concentration risk, sector exposure and overall portfolio health. It never tells you to buy, sell or hold a specific investment. Robinhood, Fidelity, Schwab and other broker screenshots are read by AI vision models.

How do I research a stock before investing?

Open the stock page and read it top to bottom: what the company does, its MoonshotScore and the pillars behind it, the financial checkup, valuation versus sector peers, insider activity, and the bull and bear cases. Then compare it with two or three peers on the screener before deciding anything.

What should I look at to evaluate a stock?

Five things, in this order: whether the business is profitable and improving (business quality), whether it could run out of money (financial safety), whether the price is fair against peers (valuation), whether growth is real and durable, and how the market is treating it (momentum). Those are the five MoonshotScore pillars, each explained on the page.

Can I use Stock Expert AI without knowing the stock market?

Yes. Every page explains each metric in plain English where it appears — what a P/E ratio or a gross margin means and why it matters — and the Training Center adds structured lessons. Start with one company you know, read its page, and use the explanations as you go.

Is my portfolio well diversified? How do I check?

Run the Portfolio Scanner. Upload a screenshot of your brokerage portfolio or enter positions by hand; OCR reads the holdings, then the scanner returns educational insights on diversification, concentration risk, sector exposure and overall portfolio health. It never tells you to buy, sell or hold a specific investment.

What is MoonshotScore?

MoonshotScore rates a US-listed stock 0 to 100 — higher means stronger numbers. Most carry an older nine-factor score; the rest use five sector-relative pillars, re-ranked daily — common stocks and ADRs only. Funds, ETFs, warrants, units, SPACs, preferreds, and notes carry none. Pages display the score with a letter grade from A+ (80-100) down to F (below 30).

What is Moon AI?

Moon AI is our intelligent stock market assistant. You can chat with it about any stock, ask investment questions, review your portfolio's diversification, or explore market trends. Moon AI works from the platform's market-hours data and can generate interactive charts, stock cards, sentiment analysis, and statistical price scenarios (educational, not predictions) directly in the chat.

What is Virtual Trading?

Virtual Trading lets you practice buying and selling stocks with $50,000 in virtual money. It uses real market prices but no real money is at risk. It's a great way to test strategies, learn about the market, and build confidence before committing real capital.

What is the Investment Legends Council?

The Legends Council reads a stock through 6 perspectives — Ray Dalio (macro cycles), Ken Griffin (market flow), Jim Simons (quantitative patterns), Izzy Englander (risk-reward), Seth Klarman (value investing), and Moon AI (11 academic KPIs) — as educational interpretations of public investment principles, not affiliated with or endorsed by these investors. They score independently, so you see the disagreements.

What data sources does Stock Expert AI use?

Our primary financial data provider is Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) for financials, valuations, technical indicators, and insider activity, with Yahoo Finance and Alpaca as fallback sources for prices and ETF data, and SEC EDGAR for insider filings. Data flows through an FMP-first cascade and is cross-verified across sources to ensure accuracy.

How reliable are the AI price scenarios?

The scenario tool runs an ensemble of 5 statistical models (Linear Regression, Double Exponential Smoothing, Weighted Moving Average, Momentum+RSI, and Kalman Filter) with a Bayesian loop that recalibrates model weights against actual outcomes. They are educational scenarios, not predictions: markets are inherently unpredictable, so treat them as one input among many in your own research.
