Council is a separate blend of available disciplines; MoonshotScore above remains the five-pillar research rating.

Bars show each model's ordered assessment on its own scale, not a probability or a comparable investment return. The adjacent words give the assessment; more filled segments indicate a stronger model reading.

On Apr 29, 2026, the Munger lens read the price at that time as fairly valued against its own estimate of value.

1 · What is it?

What is Fifth Third Bancorp (FITBI), and what does it report?

Short answer · as of

Fifth Third is not merely a branch deposit franchise. It lends to businesses and consumers, manages corporate cash, handles foreign exchange and trade finance, originates mortgages, distributes vehicle credit through dealers, and provides investment, trust, brokerage, and advisory services.

Research dated 2026-09-12.

Fifth Third is not merely a branch deposit franchise. It lends to businesses and consumers, manages corporate cash, handles foreign exchange and trade finance, originates mortgages, distributes vehicle credit through dealers, and provides investment, trust, brokerage, and advisory services.

Its reported revenue therefore blends balance-sheet income with service and fee businesses rather than measuring a uniform unit of demand. The segment view attributes nearly all disclosed revenue to Branch Banking and Commercial Banking, with Wealth and Asset Management contributing little in that presentation.

2 · Latest results

What do the latest results show for Fifth Third Bancorp (FITBI)?

Short answer · as of

The most recent reported quarter, Q2 FY2026, carried revenue of $4.43B.

Research dated 2026-09-12.

The latest income statement shows a sharp sequential recovery: revenue, operating profit, net income, and diluted earnings all rose materially from the weak preceding period. The earnings comparison presents a more nuanced result, with earnings close to consensus but reported revenue below the estimate.

Management expects net interest income to advance as fixed-rate assets reprice, with calendar effects also contributing. That explanation is prospective; the reported rebound itself is visible in the income statement, while the annual record shows that the latest completed year paired a modest revenue decline with higher net income.

3 · Financial strengths and risks

What are the financial strengths and risks for Fifth Third Bancorp (FITBI)?

Short answer · as of

The MoonshotScore pillars rate an attractive price, durable growth as strengths.

Research dated 2026-09-12.

Cash and short-term investments stand well above total debt, and the broader cash-and-investment pool is dominated by long-term investments. Those long-term holdings are unclassified, so the headline total should not be treated as though every component were immediately interchangeable with cash.

Operating cash flow swung from a sizable outflow to a much larger inflow in the latest period, following an already uneven history. Lending exposure spans commercial real estate, residential property, home equity, vehicles, and broader business credit; weakening borrower performance would therefore reach several portfolios, while softer deposit economics would pressure the funding side of the franchise.

Profitability remains positive, but returns on assets and equity are modest and the distress and quality screens are not uniformly strong. A continued-listing rule notice adds a separate compliance matter that warrants tracking through subsequent filings.

4 · What to check next?

What should you watch next at Fifth Third Bancorp (FITBI)?

Short answer · as of

The next earnings report is expected on Oct 22, 2026.

Research dated 2026-09-12.

Fixed-rate asset repricing is the cleanest operating checkpoint. Sequential net interest income growth consistent with management’s outlook would support the stated mechanism; failure to produce it would weaken the explanation for continued earnings improvement.

Revenue against consensus, operating profit, and the conversion of earnings into operating cash deserve to be read together. The cash and short-term investment balance has moved sharply across recent periods, making its composition and persistence more informative than the latest balance alone.

Subsequent filings should also clarify the continued-listing matter. Recent insider activity showed disposals without reported purchases, alongside numerous awards, exempt transactions, in-kind transfers, and a gift, so transaction type matters more than the net share count by itself.

5 · Peer comparison

How does Fifth Third Bancorp compare with its peers?

Short answer

Fifth Third Bancorp's score ranks 4th of 6 in the bounded comparison shown, against 5 same-model peers. These are company scores, not expected investment returns. The set lists named competitors first, then companies in the same data-provider industry classification closest in market value; that classification is the provider's, not our judgment of business similarity.

Research dated 2026-09-12.

Fifth Third differs from a narrower regional lender through the breadth of its distribution and services. Commercial clients can use lending, treasury management, derivatives, trade finance, and capital-markets capabilities, while consumers reach credit through branches, mortgage channels, correspondent lenders, and automobile dealerships.

Breadth does not mean equal contribution. Disclosed segment revenue is concentrated in Branch Banking and Commercial Banking, while Wealth and Asset Management is minimal in that presentation; the economic comparison with peers therefore depends far more on the retail and commercial banking engines than on the existence of a wealth platform.

FITBI Financial Services Stock FAQ

Research dated 2026-09-12; the answers below are from that research, and the full attribution is under Sources. The last 2 questions are answered from this page's own dated data, not from the research.

How does fixed-rate asset repricing affect Fifth Third’s net interest income?

Management expects maturing or resetting fixed-rate assets to lift net interest income, with calendar effects providing additional help. The relevant test is whether that benefit appears in sequential banking income and carries through to profit.

Sources (as of 2026-09-12): Management outlook — dated call excerpts; Quarterly income statement (USD thousands)

Why did Fifth Third’s profit rebound after the weak preceding period?

Revenue and operating profit recovered sharply, producing a much stronger net result. Management has identified fixed-rate asset repricing as a source of further net interest income growth, but that outlook does not by itself explain every part of the reported rebound.

Sources (as of 2026-09-12): Quarterly income statement (USD thousands); Reported versus estimated, last 8 quarters; Management outlook — dated call excerpts

Which businesses dominate Fifth Third’s disclosed segment revenue?

Branch Banking and Commercial Banking account for nearly all revenue in the disclosed segment view. Wealth and Asset Management broadens the offering but contributes little in that particular presentation.

Sources (as of 2026-09-12): Revenue by segment; Business description

What do Fifth Third’s recent insider transactions show?

Reported activity included disposals but no purchases, while much of the transaction count involved awards, exempt exercises, in-kind transfers, and a gift. The negative net share movement is therefore best read alongside the mix of transaction types.

Sources (as of 2026-09-12): Insider transactions, last 180 days

What is the FITBI stock price today?

The last price recorded on this page for Fifth Third Bancorp (FITBI) is $25.46, as of the Oct 2, 2026 trading session (source: Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) · quote). It is a provider snapshot, not a live exchange feed, so check a brokerage quote before you trade.

Does FITBI pay a dividend?

Yes. Fifth Third Bancorp (FITBI) shows a trailing 12-month dividend yield of 7.71%, as of Sep 29, 2026, in the data on this page. Payout ratio and cash-flow coverage decide whether it can last, and past dividends do not guarantee future payments.

The quarterly income statement is provider-standardized (FMP) under one row, and scale definitions — a 0-100 rating, the band ladder, the Piotroski 0–9 range — are fixed rather than measured. Net shares sums acquired minus disposed shares across direction-known records, including other transaction types; unknown directions are excluded. It is not net purchases or a verified change in beneficial ownership. Named-insider counts, same-day clusters and positive reported prices cover all retained records. Filing dates are used only when transaction dates are absent. Neither timing nor price establishes motive or whether a transaction was on the open market.
